Saturday Single No. 399

I’m straining for something to write about this morning after a very busy two weeks for both the Texas Gal and me: a table-top baseball tournament in our dining room, a weekend-long forty-year reunion at which I manned the registration desk, four church committee meetings and an introduction to a cat whom we will visit regularly while her owner is out of town, all along with the regular comings and goings and work and domestic chores. And the Texas Gal has another meeting this morning.

So we’re both in need of recharging, and after the Texas Gal gets home this afternoon, we’ll relax at least a little. I’ll likely help with some weeding/hoeing in the gardens (if the weather cooperates, which is an iffy thing at best). And we’ll find something quiet to fill our evening here, perhaps a movie with some popcorn.

In the absence of a popcorn-related tune, however (and 1972’s “Popcorn” by Hot Butter will not suffice), I thought I’d throw out a preview of next week. I noted yesterday that I plan to dig into covers of Donovan’s “Wear Your Love Like Heaven” and Dusty Springfield’s “Just A Little Lovin’ (Early In The Mornin’)” in the coming week. One of the covers I’ve found of the former tune comes from jazzman Cal Tjader, who included his version of “Wear Your Love Like Heaven” on his 1970 album Tjader. And that cover is today’s Saturday Single.
